View Museum Aboriginal Art Museum – AAMU

Profile Information
The museum gallery houses a unique collection of original Aboriginal art expressed not only on canvas and paper, but also on tree-bark and in sculptures. The works of art are bought from well-known Australian art cooperatives or directly from the artists themselves. The paintings in the museum gallery originate from various regions of Australia, each of which has its own individual style of painting

The Aboriginal Art Museum brings Dutch and foreign visitors into contact with Aboriginal art. It is a place where you can find out about the different directions and trends that have evolved in this contemporary art form, which came into being in 1970. The museum organises a constantly changing series of exhibitions and a large number of activities.

The museum is housed in an attractive building on Utrecht's grand canal, the Oudegracht. There are exhibition halls on all three storeys. Besides an exhibition hall, the ground floor is also home to the museum shop, the museum gallery, an auditorium with an adjoining cinema, and the museum café with a conservatory and terrace.
