Contemporary to the first public opening of the Academy in 1793, Count Giacomo Carrara wanted to start giving design and painting classes in the same location. Only in 1810, with the commission of Professors given to Giuseppe Diotti and after the construction of a Neoclassical building designed by Simone Elia, a student of Leopoldo Pollack, the school began a significant period of activity.
In order of time, past sucessive directors have been: Giuseppe Diotti, Enrico Scuri, Cesare Tallone, Ponziano Loverini, Luigi Brignoli, Achille Funi, Trento Longaretti e infine, Pierluigi De Vecchi, Mario Cresci e Maria Grazia Recanati director in charge. |
