The first annual
Palm Springs Fine Art Fair is set to
blow the cover off one the country’s best-kept secrets. As one of the
premier winter resorts in America, the Palm Springs area is also a
sparkling cultural gem—home to a major museum (Palm Springs Art Museum),
thriving gallery scene (60+ galleries), and a strong base of serious
collectors and patrons.
Once the playground of movie stars, captains of industry and world
leaders, the region has evolved into “an art oasis in the Southern
California desert” with a vibrant cultural scene devoted to the visual
arts. And now launching its entry onto the international art fair
calendar, Palm Springs is set to be a gracious host to the first annual
Palm Springs Fine Art Fair with festivities beginning on the evening of
February 16 at the awe-inspiring Palm Springs Convention Center.
PSFAF is strategically scheduled over Presidents’ Day Weekend,
(Feb. 17-19, 2012), traditionally one of the most highly populated
weekends of the year in the region. The Coachella Valley explodes in
population from 410,000 permanent residents to over 800,000 during that
popular February weekend. Over 10,000 art lovers and interior designers
will already be at the Convention Center visiting the outrageously
popular Modernism Show and Sale held in the adjacent exhibit hall.
