Eduardo Agelvis was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1955. His work is a combination of figurative forms and various textures and colors. In his large-scale paintings, Agelvis fuses refined and stylized drawings with a variety of materials, including oil paints, chalk, varnishes, dirt, rust, and glue, to create glossy surfaces defined by his vibrant palette. Agelvis took art courses over a period of almost twenty years. He studied drawing with the artist Pedro León Zapata, drawing at the Faculty of Architecture of the Central University of Venezuela. His work has been exhibited in galleries around the world since the 1980s, and has exhibited in Italy, Romania, the United States, France, Spain and Sweden.
