Monica Sarmiento Castillo

Monica Sarmiento Castillo was born in Loja, Ecuador, in 1967. (Spanish nationality) She began her artistic education in his hometown at the School of Fine Arts of the Private Technical University of Loja, obtaining a degree in design and painting. For some time she taught art classes at the Loja Provincial Council. She currently complements her artistic training with a doctorate from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her philosophy is based on the integration of "greater Latin America" united by the same language, the pre-Columbian culture, the base of her roots and source of inspiration for her works. Her work has been exhibited in various institutions: Museum of the City of Valencia, Casa de América Madrid, Expo Universal Hannover 2000, Luis González Robles Museum (University of Alcalá), José Benlliure House Museum, Museo del Banco Central del Ecuador, OEA Washington , Hangaram Art Museum Seoul, The Museum at the Katzen Art Center, Museum of Science and Industry Chicago, MOLAA, Museum of Latin American Art, Expo Zaragoza 2008, Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art, Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art, Kyungbook National University Museum Daegu , Palace of Culture (Heichal Ha Tarbut) Rishon LeZion, Israel and the QCC Art Gallery (City University of New York), among others. Monica Sarmiento Castillo has participated in fairs and events in different cities and countries such as Beirut, Berlin, Chicago, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Shanghai, Washington, Korea, Cuba, Spain. France and Italy.
