Soto Multiple

Calle Blanca de Navarra, 7, Madrid, Spain

about this event

Galería Cayón is pleased to present, coinciding with the opening of the exhibition season, Soto Multiple the third individual exhibition dedicated to Jesús Soto (Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, 1923 - Paris, France, 2005) in the gallery. Jesús Soto was one of the most important figures of 20th century art. His research on three-dimensionality began in the 50s, coinciding with his transfer to the French capital. Throughout his career, he would explore the concepts of movements and transformation, creating a corpus of works that are continuously modified in our path, generating a constant vibration. Soto multiple will gather, in the two spaces of Blanca de Navarra, a large set of editions and multiple of small format that demonstrate the constant investigation of the artist around the movement generated through optical illusions. Three-dimensional objects offer multiple possibilities as they revolve around them and silkscreens transcend the two dimensions thanks to visual games produced by the superposition of fine lines - reminiscent of the subtle rods that hang from their sculptures - on areas of solid color. In addition, the Penetrable BBL Blue installation will be presented in the Blanca de Navarra 9 space, a large-scale interactive work of 4.5 x 4 x 6 meters that invites the viewer to go through it and become an active part of the piece, which appears and fades continuously as it travels. Jesús Rafael Soto's work is present in permanent collections of international museums such as the Tate Gallery in London, the Georges Pompidou Art Center in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, or the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul. Among the national collections of which it is part of the National Museum Reina Sofía Art Center in Madrid.
