La Laguna, Spain
In the month of March of the year 1989, in the center of the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, on the island of Tenerife, the Artizar art gallery begins its journey, with the main objective of making known and establishing a point of meeting for art in the Canary Islands and the Canary Islands. Through its walls have passed a wide range of artists from the islands, from painting of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries, contemporary painters with known national and international prestige and of course, young and restless artists who have grown up with the gallery. From its foundation to the present day Artizar has evolved and little by little it has been opening its arms and expanding its sights to cover a greater variety, initially it was designed for the exhibition and commercialization of Canarian art, but now our funds and knowledge not only cross the island borders but also cross overseas, artists of the European, Latin American, American avant-garde and many others that now give rise to our wide range of works. Since in 1989 its founder Carlos E. Pinto, after taking time involved in the world of Canarian art with publications and various projects, decided to open an art gallery in a former Canarian house from the end of the 17th century, the city known as La Laguna has changed a lot, because at that time there were very few centers for the dissemination of art and practically absent private galleries, while currently accompanying the appointment by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the streets of the city have been seen adorned with a good number of them, being therefore Artizar one of the risky propellers of the artistic and cultural life of Lagunera.
