Descripción
Depicting figures that emerge from water, Mexican artist Arturo Samaniego creates “a metaphor for the life that envelops every one of us.” Another Mexican artist, Raúl Fombona, utilizes pastel, acrylic, watercolor, and charcoal to create dream-like, haunting scenes. Chilean artist Javier De Cea’s mixed media works combine paint, marker, and pencil in compositions that serve as instinctive and visual explorations. Peruvian Inés Menacho photographs people in scenes of musical performance, mixing everyday experiences with the excitement of collaboration and creation. Colombian artist Jose Sanchez (Felox) uses sculpture to balance iconic imagery from various religions. Marchu Torres paints her reimagination of her Argentine home city, exploring themes of idealization and the rootlessness felt after one leaves one place for another. Another Argentina native, Maria Martha Pichel paints haunting, looming ships inspired by the ports of Buenos Aires. All of these artists draw from their unique experiences and locations to create truly astounding works of art.
